Cowpen Farm & Isabella Resident Association

Cowpen Farm & Isabella Residents Association was officially formed in May 2006 and now has a strong committee. The group continues to be actively involved in local housing and community issues and to provide a link between local residents, Blyth Valley Housing, Blyth Valley Council as well as other agencies to improve the quality of lives for all residents and to promote community spirit on the estate.

By their passion for working together and by getting involved, the group has had a voice in the community and is starting to see improvements, which is a benefit to all residents living in the area.

One of their recent achievements was in November which marked the grand MUGA in Cowpenopening of a new Multi-Use-Games Area adjacent to the Isabella Centre.  The Residents worked alongside a group of young people (Isabella Centre’s Youth Counci) by helping and supporting them in the success of a new Multi-Use Games Area adjacent to the Isabella Community Centre.  A consultation took place with residents living in the area to agree the final location, and design of the equipment.  It has been welcomed by children of all ages who are now using the area and it is providing the much needed facility for the children.

Cowpen Farm & Isabella Resident Association have outlined some future goals, as follows:

  • To clear railway line of rubbish & develop the area
  • To improve an open space in Cowpen Estate
  • To update the existing toddler play area.

Committee Members are:

Chair – Chris Oxtoby

Secretary – Ellen Brown

Treasurer – Maureen Smith

Assistant Treasurer – Bill Ferry

Other Committee Members – Angela Rout, George Trood, Colin Brown, Verina Clark & Cath Heslop.
