Right to Compensation for tenants improvements

Tenants have a Right to Compensation for any improvements that they have carried out after the 1st April 1994.
We will make payments within the maximum and minimum payments laid down within the Governments regulations. Currently a minimum of £50 and up to a maximum of £3,000.
Compensation payments will only be considered where the improvement has been carried out with our consent.
Any compensation payment will be offset against any outstanding debts owed to us by the tenant
Any requests for compensation must be made within 14 days of the tenancy being terminated.
Compensation will only be considered for improvements laid down in the Governments regulations.
Tenants have the right, with our consent, to carry out improvements to their homes as long as:
· The property would not be less safe after the improvements
· The improvements would not cause us to incur expenditure as a result.
· The price of the dwelling, if sold on the open market or the rent payable would not be reduced as a result.
· If consent is refused, we will provide a written statement giving the reasons for refusal.
