Homeless Advice
Homeless Persons' Team
All homelessness applications made to us are looked at by our Homeless Persons Officers.
Homeless persons' officers are responsible for investigating homeless applications. They provide a legal duty under the Housing Act 1996, Part VII (as amended by the Homelessness Act 2002).
This team prevents homelessness by working closely with the Housing Advice Team. They also provide advice and help to people applying as homeless.
We have produced an information leaflet to provide advice and assistance for anyone who is homeless or threatened with homelessness. You can view our homeless leaflet here.
You can find out more details of the duties towards homeless people in the Governments Code of Guidance.
