Independent Board Director Wanted

Blyth Valley Housing has been assessed as providing a good service by government inspectors. We are a forward looking high performing organisation with a commitment to quality services, customer focus and engaging customers. Our board of 15 directors consists of three independent directors, five tenant directors and seven councillors.

We now have a vacancy for an Independent Director to join the board of Blyth Valley Housing.

If you have commitment and enthusiasm and want to make a real difference in Blyth Valley then we would love to hear from you.

We are looking for independent directors who can bring particular skills and expertise to help the Board manage the affairs of the company including but not limited to housing, construction, regeneration, law, community development, equality and diversity.

We welcome all applications and would particularly encourage applications from women, those aged less than 40 years of age and people with a disability as these groups are currently under-represented on our Board.

We will be holding a ‘Board Taster Day’ for all interested candidates on Friday 11th July 2008, where you can find out more and meet up with existing Board members.

Tenant Board Directors Wanted

Have you got commitment, drive and enthusiasm?  Do you want to make a real difference in your local community?  If so, apply now!  We are currently seeking two Tenant Directors to sit on our Board.  Blyth Valley Housing is a not for profit company owned by Blyth Valley Council, which manages around 7,000 homes on the Council’s behalf.  Blyth Valley Housing has been assessed as providing a good service by government inspectors. One of our key strengths is that a third of the members of the Board of management are tenants who influence all the decisions we make. To apply you must live in either the Blyth North area (covering Cowpen Estate, Cowpen Farm, Bebside, Hodgsons Road Estate, North Farm, Shipyard Flats, Isabella Road, Fallow Park Avenue).  Or Seaton Valley area (covering Seaton Delaval, Holywell, New Hartley, Seghill and Seaton Sluice). To apply for one of these positions you will need to be over 18 years of age and be a council tenant or leaseholder.

We welcome all applications and would particularly encourage applications from women, those aged under 40 years of age and people with a disability as these groups are currently under-represented on our Board.
